)Whole Body Singing is very excited to announce that registration is open for the MOUTH MUSIC Contemporary A cappella Summer Intensives. Our aim is to provide a high quality "vocal band" experience to youth of all skill level. During the camp experience, participants will:
Creating and learning fun, engaging songs to perform within a "vocal band" (a cappella group)
Learning to work ON MICROPHONE to create a "full band" sound using only our mouths
Basics of improvising, writing and arranging a cappella music
Blocking and staging a dynamic performance in front of mirrors
Perform a final showcase with International A Cappella artists, Face!
Camp will be held from 11am-4pm June 5-9, 2017 at: Dana V. Music 901 Front St. Louisville, CO (Please DO NOT contact Dana V. Music for information!
There will be a culminating performance on June 9 at 2pm at Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts in Lafayette, CO!
Once you are registered and tuition is received, you will receive a welcome letter with a required medical form.
MOUTH MUSIC CLINICIANS
Cody Qualls is the director of The Whole Body Singing Studio, the creator of the "Mouth Music" Contemporary A cappella Intensives and has been a private vocal instructor for more than a decade. Qualls currently composes, arranges for and tours as a lead tenor with the national rock a cappella ensemble “Face.” His most current writing can be heard on Face's new album How Was the Show, for which he composed the title track "How Was the Show Last Night," among other hits. Among Face's many accolades, they were featured on NBC's The Sing-Off and performed before the celebrity judges of America's Got Talent. Along his travelings with the group he has received the opportunity to perform for former President Bush Sr., former President Clinton, and received high praise from audience members such as Henry Kissinger, Jimmy Buffet, David Rockefeller, and entertainment mogul Merv Griffin. In addition, Face has shared the stage with Bon Jovi, Clint Eastwood, and the recent chart topping NBC Sing Off champions, Home Free.
Stephen Ross - as a performer, teacher, and contemporary a cappella vocal arranger, Stephen Ross is a multi-dimensional musician. Stephen performs as the counter-tenor and arranges music regularly for Face Vocal Band. His vocal arrangements are also performed throughout the state by high school and college vocal ensembles. He has a degree in Music Education and Voice Performance from the University of Colorado. He was the Director of Vocal Music, the Fine Arts Department Co-Chairperson, and the Visual & Performing Arts Academy Coordinator at Skyline High School, where he has taught Choir, Voice Performance, and Music Technology from 2003-2015.
Zakk Wooten has travelled and performed extensively throughout his professional singing career. He has appeared with The Cat’s Pajamas on NBC’s The Sing-Off, been an a cappella mainstay on the fabulous stages of Branson, MO, and has toured aboard Norwegian and Celebrity cruise lines as a professional entertainer.
In addition, Zakk has a degree in Musical Education from the University of Lincoln, Nebraska. He has an amazing ability to create a customized path for each and every student's individual needs. He currently sings for the professional, Denver-based a cappella group Motive and teaches group singing, group songwriting, and private vocal instruction at Whole Body Singing Studios.
Mark Megibow has been on stage for most of his life as both an award-winning actor and musician. He sang his first solo performance at age 6, then picked up the drum sticks at age 9, ultimately leading him to Northwestern University's prestigious Bienen School of Music where he graduated with a degree in Music Education. Since then, he has performed in widely diverse musical groups of every style, from symphonic orchestras and wind ensembles, to marching drum corps and rock bands. He is best known as one of the foremost vocal drummers of contemporary vocal rock and has toured extensively with Face Vocal Band for the last 13 years. His multidiscipline artistic background fuels a unique style, layering complex rhythms and sounds in ways that leave audiences breathless. When not on stage, Mark leads seminars for teens on leadership, communication, and life skills.
Michelle Rocqet is an Alum and originating member of CU Denver’s female-identified a cappella group, Lark (BOSS 2015 & SoJam 2015 Champions, CARA winner). Rocqet is also a current and originating member of MIX Vocal Band (BOSS 2013 Champions, MHVJ 2013/2014, & SoJam2013 Champions, CARA, Macy’s $25K Challenge Winner). Vocalist/Beatboxer/Looper for Denver DIY band The Milk Blossoms, (Voted Westword Magazine's ‘Best Experimental Band’ 2016). B.S. in Music Entertainment & Industry Studies with a double emphasis in Commercial Vocal Performance and Recording Arts from The University of Colorado Denver. Michelle also just found out she is lactose intolerant and is super bummed about it. Emma Wallingford's' voice and songwriting skills that captivate audiences all over the state with a sound that’s best described as soul/R&B with tinges of hip-hop grooves. She is a current member of the highly sought after MIX Vocal Band. She has shared the stage with acts such as the Grammy award winning a cappella group, The Swingle Singers, Hazel Miller, Air Dubai and more. Her singing has been presented not only on stages across Colorado, but also around the world.
